There’s a cute little spot in the East Village called 20 Blocks and I’m completely smitten. From the cute decor to the attentive staff and the insanely good food, this shop is worth the trek downtown.

The menu is small but mighty. In the way of sandwiches they offer Turkey Town which is shredded house turkey, fried green tomatoes, baby romaine and cajun mayo on honey whole wheat, a BLP– thick cut bacon, roasted yellow peaches, and garlic mayo, and the Corn Star– charred corn, cowboy candy, and havarti cheese on milk bread. Rounding out the menu there is cold Tomato Soup, Homemade Chips and what they call Puppy Chow which is peanut butter with strawberry jelly.

I could not pass up the homemade chips and loved them. Super thin and crispy, they were addictively good, perfectly cooked and salted.

For my sando, I tried the dreamy, ooey, melted, gooey Corn Star. Wow. The bread was wonderfully crisp and the insides were heavenly. The corn was so sweet and I loved the melted cheese squishing out the sides. And check out the cheese pull! The cowboy crunch was actually sweet candied jalapeños and they brought just the right amount of heat to balance the corn’s natural juicy flavor. This was a big time winner. Five stars for sure.

I also sampled the Turkey Town. The crunch of the tomatoes was epic and I loved the swipe of cajun mayo to elevate the ingredients.
