May I Make A Suggestion, July 20th

Growing up my Dad had very strong opinions. Very. Little has changed. But since I have become an adult, found my voice and can easily set my big girl boundaries, he now phrases his ideas with the tender line, “May I make a suggestion?” Which we all know is secretly a directive and not a suggestion but hey, he’s trying! And my Dad is full of great ideas. I now have the luxury of saying yes or no. (And often times I do say yes.) Anyway, I thought it would be humorous to assemble a few “suggestions” (none of which are Dad’s by the way) to brighten up today and make you laugh like I did when I read them. Some of these are a bit… controversial and very obviously made for fun. And I am in no way endorsing any of these ideas. But would you…

And on the subject of relationships, I thought this one was just killer…

And speaking of bossiness and making suggestions, I just love the next one because it is SO true. I swear every time I enter Target with a (ahem) targeted list, I leave with so many bags they fill the trunk! Yes I needed those smiley face kitchen scrubbies and those cute as can be pajamas thankyouverymuch.

I’m a huge fan of milkshakes, floats, ice cream sodas, and of course the “healthy” cousin to all of these, smoothies. But I detest cleaning the blender. When I try to wash the top, the water pressure is always on high and I get soaked from the spray before I realize that I’ve done that yet again. And I’m always afraid to stick my hand into the bottom of the blender with those sharp blades to skillfully clean the lower section where splatter gets trapped. So the blender in my house is seldomly used. And then I came across this vital suggestion. Someone has my numbah!

Who better than my dearest friends and of course The Mothership could appreciate the real cardio associated with shopping? This suggestion is retail gold!

And then of course there should be a reach out to the younger generation…

For my absolute favorite suggestion of the day, we find this young go-getter. Apparently an unnamed source suggested that this brave cookie lover cut out his favorite food to drop a few pounds. And he decided to document his progress with his phone each day and post the results. Obviously the clock restarted if he cheated and had cookies. Let’s check in with him to see how he did after four days of dieting. And please tell me that you could not stop laughing? I thought this was hysterical!!

The thing about suggestions is that you will be exposed to a lot of them. Some might be truly brilliant out of the box ideas that you might not have generated on your own. And some might be laughable. Others might even annoy you! But the best part about taking in information is that you decide what’s usable and what you thank someone for but ignore. Because you’re an educated eggdicator and you know what’s good!

So have the dang cookie, try on shoes or blow the budget at Target. My suggestion is to unapologetically live YOUR best life starting now.
