SnackTime With Jen— North Fork Fare, September 3rd

The North Fork of Long Island has so many quaint towns, mom and pop shops, vineyards, farms and great restaurants. On a fun day trip out to wander around we visited the greatly loved Main Road Biscuit Co. in Jamesport for some fab fare.

Not only can you sit and enjoy breakfast and lunch here, they have some mighty fine looking pantry items including pickles, coffee, jams, hot sauce and granola.

And their treat case was overflowing with goodies. We actually grabbed a Brownie Cookie and one of their Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip rounds to go even before ordering. Yep, we were all over dessert before lunch, but when you know, you know. And we couldn’t resist buying a bag of their impossibly good lookin’ homemade Sea Salt Potato Chips. Yum.

By the time we sat down and ordered we were starving! So we shared the Grilled Chicken Club with tender chicken breast, romaine lettuce, tomato slices, green goddess spread, and Applewood bacon all toothpick towered into Blue Duck crustless sourdough. And the big pile of Sea Salt Chips scattered on top certainly didn’t hurt our feelings. The sando was great! The green goddess was so herby and really brought out the taste of each layer. And the chips? Wow! Incredibly thin, light and salty. Loved.

We also shared the Honey-Butter Fried Chicken Sandwich which was an open faced double fry of warm cracklingly crunchy chicken pieces with stars of homemade honey butter on top that melted blissfully into each thigh. On the side was a ramekin of great kale slaw and some tangy house-made pickles. For me the bread did nothing for this sando so I ditched the carby bottom and knife and forked into the juicy chicken with a pile of pickles on top. Amazing!

Jen’s Little Black Book just loves a good lunch and Main Road Biscuit Co. is a cute spot for casual dining that churns out some homemade classics with love and care. If you’re planning a trip to the North Fork, definitely include this gem in your travels. And if you’re planning on dining somewhere else, at least pick up a bag or two of their insane chips and a cookie or two to go!

Everyone I know just loooves a little snack. Especially me.
