SnackTime With Jen— Roof Deck Decadence, August 27th

Nothing beats a weekday lunch at the glam and breezy outdoor roof deck of André Balazs’ seasonal and sexy Sunset Beach Hotel and Restaurant.

Overlooking the serene lapping waters of Shelter Island Sound, you’ll watch the yachts cruise by as you indulge in a glass of their famous Frozé and enjoy some of the best food Out East.

We started with their rustic Crudite platter with just picked veggies straight from the island and a mini ramekin of homemade hummus. And yeah, the hummus could have been a bit larger to support this generous garden platter. But the fennel was amazing and we loved the peppery bite of the purple radishes.

For our mains we shared the outstanding simply grilled Swordfish with olive oil and a sprinkling of herbs, a few olives, and some tender roasted tomatoes and their classic Cheeseburger with incredible skinny, well salted fries. We literally finished every delectable bite. Even the pickle was super sour and great.

For dessert there is only one spectacular option and it’s their house made Crème Brûlée. I’ve never enjoyed a smoother, creamier crème and the crunchy, sugar fired top was paper thin and perfectly sweet. We shared of course, but each regretted not getting our own!

A daytime getaway for a delicious summertime meal is incredibly indulgent. And Sunset Beach takes the whole experience to new heights. Jen’s Little Black Book loves dining al fresco and this Shelter Island rooftop is just the pinnacle of chic deliciousness.

Everyone I know just loooves a little snack. Especially me.
