SnackTime With Jen— Wagyu Wonder, May 28th

I figured most people would be barbeuqed out after a long Memorial Day weekend and not want to look at another dog or burger until next weekend. So the best time to visit super popular newcomer NADC was the Tuesday after the holiday. Not A Damn Chance Burger is a wagyu cheeseburger collaboration between Professional Skateboarder Neen Williams and Michelin Starred Chef Phillip Frankland Lee that opened recently in NYC’s SoHo neighborhood to blowout crowds, tons of fanfare, and consistently juicy reviews. I couldn’t wait to try it, sans line of course.

So we strolled right into NADC yesterday, and were met with no crowd and lots of open tables. I love it when a plan comes together! Here they serve only three things. The NADC Burger, fries and a shake.

The burger is a double patty that’s pressed not smashed so it’s thin, but without those crispy edges. And don’t worry– you won’t miss them. It’s topped with sweet grilled onions, two thick slices of melty American cheese, pickles, pickled jalapeños, and their special sauce. This sucker is big, heavy and insanely aromatic. The combo of all the ingredients makes a hearty bite. And this burger is messy in the best possible ruin your shirt kind of way.

The fries are crisped in beef tallow. They were super crunchy, a perfectly golden color, and just salty enough with a firm potatoey bite. A ketchup dunk proved unnecessary. One order was enough for the two of us, but we did polish off every single fry. You know my policy– no fry left behind.

Believe it or not, my favorite of the three items was the (gasp) Vanilla Shake…. and for a chocolate die hard like me that’s saying something. They were only serving one flavor that day so we had to try it. Not made from scratch, they use a machine with a pull down lever that swirls layers of the rich, creamy mixture into each plastic cup. It was so wonderfully vanilla-y tasting and cold, without being icy, too lumpy or too thick for the straw. Slurptastic. Especially after that burger/fry combo of saltiness.

NADC is a tasty collab for fans who need their wagyu fix. Jen’s Little Black Book loves a great burger and this joint delivers. With excellent fries and drinkably cool shakes, I have a feeling there’s NADC this newcomer won’t become a Soho staple for years to come.

Everyone I know just loooves a little snack. Especially me.
