SnackTime With Jen— Curiosity Complex, July 31st

A newish donut shop just opened in Furlong Pennsylvania and it’s worth the road trip from every direction. They use real vanilla, fresh dairy, and fruit purées that give their glazes natural vibrancy. They fry their doughnuts in rice bran oil and source naturally colored sprinkles and nonpareils that use vegetable juices and other natural ingredients for color. They have sixteen styles of dough (wow!) for an impressive menu. The results are nothing short of delicious. Some of the offerings include Clusters, Thumprints, Marbles, Fritters, and Cloud Doughnuts.

On a recent Sunday run, we sampled a whole box of fresh doughnuts and had trouble picking a favorite from the Cruller, Hot Cake, Meltaway, and Boston Cream. All were so moist! Some had crispy outsides, some had fillings or glazes or crumbles. Some had squishy toppings and fluffy insides. All were divine.

After all of the oohs and aaahs and nibbles and bites, the jury is in. Apparently I’m down with OCD- the Original Cake Doughnut. My very favorite was a Strawberry version that had a slick glaze and was topped with a chunky strawberry topping with crumbs. It was like biting into a sweet cloud of perfection.

In the runner up category was the remaining eleven doughnuts! I kid you not.

At Curiosity Doughnuts it seems it’s always time to make the doughnuts. Their outrageous flavors, incredible ingredients and extensive selection make this snack spot a Jen’s Little Black Book top pick for sweet treats anytime.

Everyone I know just loooves a little snack. Especially me.
