Welcome to my newest feature, SnackTime With Jen. This midweek morsel is a small taste of something fun. Topics range from food (of course) to fashion, amusing little discoveries both locally and abroad, and a variety of interesting intel too tempting not to share. So let’s get snacking…

Rigor Hill Market is a bustling Tribeca neighborhood pantry filler, brunch spot, bread bunker, snack site, and drink hang. They sell veggies, granola, honey, homemade sourdough loaves, fluffy muffins, olive oil, apples, sandwiches, and bevs. They have cute outdoor tables and it’s a fine place to find yourself on a lazy Sunday people watching and soaking up the warm sun on a brisk day.

I can attest that their Lemon Sunflower Cake is baked perfection and their Everything Croissant with Cream Cheese is breakfast bliss. But the reason to hop downtown is definitely their served-in-a-take-out-soup-container Hot Chocolate.

This chocolatier than you can imagine drink is served piping hot and sports a lid-sticking smattering of homemade brûléed marshmallows that look like the most tasty morsels ever.

Gooey, yet crispy on the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside, these mallows are so numerous that you’re forced to spoon feed them to yourself to clear the way or you risk the whole mess of them cascading down your chin if you dare to drink the rich liquid first. (Don’t!)

When you finally get to the silky Hot Chocolate hiding below, it’s slurpably warm and a nice offset to the sugary crunch of the marshmallows you’ve just devoured.

Rigor Hill Market is a homey spot for really great snacks. Jen’s Little Black Book is always down for a fabulous sweet treat and the Hot Chocolate here is lip smackingly book-worthy and arguably the best Go Cup in The Big City.
