SnackTime With Jen— Breaking Bread, July 12th

Welcome to my newest feature, SnackTime With Jen. Shorter than my long format storytelling blog, this midweek morsel is a small taste of something fun. Topics range from food (of course) to fashion, amusing little discoveries both locally and abroad, and a variety of interesting intel too tempting not to share. So let’s get snacking…

ALF Bakery recently opened on the lower level of the Chelsea Market in NYC. Their marquee offering is the Seeded Laminated Baguette. This sword of delicacy differs from the traditional baguette due to its squishy texture– it actually bounces back into shape when you squeeze it. It’s nothing like the hard, crunchy exterior to which we have all become accustomed. The Laminated Baguette is studded with wavy rows of toasty sesame seeds, stick to your dental work poppy seeds and crackling salt nuggets. The flavor is everything bagel forward but with a delicate croissant airiness stretched out into a super satisfyingly large baguette. Clearly this creation is buttery bakery magic.

Breaking bread with those you love is always a good idea. But breaking baguettes at ALF is definitely Jen’s Little Black Book-Worthy.

I’m dishing it out each week in my newest feature, SnackTime With Jen cause everyone I know just loooves a little snack. Especially me.
