I remember the first time I saw the movie Animal House. What a completely hilarious (and often times accurate) portrayal of immature antics, college traditions, and impressive comic genius all wrapped up in an ensemble cast. One of the most memorable scenes in that movie is when standout star John Bellushi playing the character John “Bluto” Blutarsky screams, “Fooood Fiiiight!” and the whole cafeteria goes absolutely wild! It’s hard to even say the words “food fight” without wanting to scream them the way Bluto did, right?
So I’m incredibly excited to announce that together with my good pal Scott Stuart, we are launching a podcast called FOOD FIGHT in August! It will be a bi-weekly chat centered around restaurants and food related topics where we two opinionated friends discuss the minutia of a plate and duke it out over our favorites. You can expect lively conversation, a ton of laughs, some snarky commentary, restaurant tips, and fabulous guests of note.
Doing a podcast is a huge departure from my creative mainstay which as you all know is writing. But since I’ve been an unofficial food critic for more than twenty years with my Jen’s Little Black Book restaurant guides and jenslittleblackbook.com blog, I didn’t hesitate for a minute when Scott asked me to join him. And since he knows I’m completely camera shy, he reminded me that no visuals will be necessary. And besides, he added, “You have a face for radio!” (Thanks, Scotty.) So I hope you’ll all tune into our passion project.
