Spring feels like it’s right around the corner (yes, clearly I’m ignoring the sub-freezing temp in the forecast for tomorrow), and I’m so ready for a fun pick me up at the table. So I used an old-fashioned ice cube tray and got creative. I used some cucumber slices, a lemon wedge, orange peels, basil leaves, coconut chunks, raspberries, blackberries, and grapefruit segments in water to make some funky cubes. (Twenty-five dollars on ingredients to make some ice– thank goodness I’m starting to earn a paycheck tomorrow.)

I’m not a big drinker, but a cube or two over a nice glass of club soda certainly brightens my table and buoys my spirits. I wish I could just find a way to chill out in general. I actually just started listening to an awesome podcast that Michael turned me onto.
Usually I don’t like noise when I’m trying to go to sleep but this woman’s voice is so relaxing that I can already boast a hat trick of successful nights of being lulled into a peaceful sleep. If you locate Deep Sleep Sounds on Spotify, Audible or Apple, the particular podcast I like is called Meditation. “Bring a sense of calm and quiet to your running mind with this meditation designed to guide you into a restful sleep.”

These days the line between work and home is most certainly blurred. A lot of my friends are clocking longer work hours in basements, and at kitchen tables, with pets barking in the background and while fending off a multitude of domestic distractions. For the moment, I am able to tune out the demons during the day (other than the upstairs marble droppers who keep strange hours). But the stress of starting a new job and the uncertainty of moving rushes back and hits me the minute I hit the pillow. So tonight I’m looking forward to another fizzy drink with a few cubes of color thrown in and a restful night of just chilling out. And maybe a slice of pie to celebrate Pie Day. Happy 3.14!
